I've been trying to add a few touches of fall around the house. It's still pretty hot here so it's hard to get in the mood. I'm going to wait until October to do the outside. I got some really tall corn stalks from my aunts garden this year that will look good by the front porch.
As you can see, I didn't have four matching pumpkins.
I wanted to use these tall candle holders somehow, so I threw a couple of pumpkins on there!
I made Corn Chip Tacos for dinner. They were so good!
I just browned 1 1/2 pounds of ground beef, drained, added a can of tomato paste, some water to thin it out and salt and sugar to taste. The sugar takes the twang out of the paste. I usually add enough to also give it a sweet taste. I like sweet and savory. Layer the corn chips in your plate, top with meat, cheese, pico de gallo, letttuce and sour cream. Fast and delicious!
I have a question. I haven't been taking pictures long, I'm still learning as I go. I have a Canon Rebel XS. I take the picture, it looks great, but when I resize it usually 640 x427, then change the html code so that they look bigger they seem to pixelate or blur. I followed instructions for big pictures over @ Between Naps on the Porch. (Thanks Susan) Great tips, I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm such a novice.
I'm off to bed. My husband started a new job that requires him to get up 2 and half hours earlier. Guess who gets to make the coffee?
Your house looks very festive, and the food looks great!
ReplyDeleteHey, get yourself a coffee maker that has a built in clock. My hubby gets up very early and I set it up at night and the thing turns on a few minutes before his alarm...NICE!! He actually prefers having his alone time in the early morning. SUITS ME!!
ReplyDeleteNice fall table and I like the mismatched pumpkins. Can't answer your question on the photography--I'll let the pros do that!(although I have my camera setting on the large picture format so when I put them on the blog I have to make them smaller not larger--perhaps that is your problemo)
Looks like you are ready for fall. Thanks for sharing this beautiful table. ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteI'm having a Goodwill party every Wednesday!! Stop by and join in!!
Very nice! I love fall!
ReplyDeleteNo need for the pumpkins to match! Your table is lovely and definitely ready for fall. I never do a fall mantel, but you have inspired me!
ReplyDeleteI never even thought to decorate my mantel for autumn. That & your table look great. I must get busy & put some things over my fireplace! Thanks for the push.
ReplyDeleteWe do the same tacos with the corn chips because it is hard for some in our family to hold the taco shells without breaking & making a mess. Yours look yummy!
I love your fall decorations! Your table is very welcoming and the taco chips look yummy!!!! :)

Love the decorations. It's still hot where I am too so I really can't get into the spirit of decorating but I told my husband that they are going up October 1st whether it's hot or not.
ReplyDeleteSO pretty! I loved looking through your blog at your yard sale finds too! It's amazing what you can find with a good eye and a few bucks!
ReplyDeleteI love your fall table... Try not resizeing the pictures, but do change what Susan told you to do in her post and see if that helps...When you play with changing the size back and forth to much it will make a grainy

Enjoyed your fall setting. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteVery Autumn, very delicious. Great tablescape, oh and I liked that the pumpkins didn't match!
ReplyDeleteLove the tablescape...and I can't figure out the picture thing either. Tried Susan's tips and still small pics. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteLove your centerpiece..i NEED a cylinder like yours...so many diff. things to fill it with for each & every season or holiday!
ReplyDelete~ i also second a coffee pot with auto brew...a total blessing..even if you still get up with hubby, you don't have to use your brain to make coffee! or just load maker the night before so all you have to do is push the "on" button!lol :)
Such a pretty fall table -- can't help you with photos -- I just started taking pictures when I started blogging in March -- I think they look good. Love your "mismatched" pumpkins too!
ReplyDeleteYour table looks stunning...so very pretty.
ReplyDeleteGlad I could stop by and see your Tablescape Thursday.
The Taco Meal had to be great. We love these taco meals. Maybe this week-end I'll fix this.
Plez come by for a spot of tea!
Blessings to you,
d from homehaven
Everything is beautiful and festive for fall! Love your tablescape, especially the centerpiece! And the pumpkins on the tall candlesticks were a wonderful idea. In fact, I'm borrowing that one! :) Going right now to drag mine out of the attic! Thanks for the inspiration!!! ~Rhonda
ReplyDeleteHi Shauna! Just visiting all the Thursday Tablescapes, but wanted to say beautiful post! Love your table and all your Fall decorations. Very inspiring to someone who is still in denial, in the "Great Northeast"! I really am not liking the chill in the air, and I'm just trying to savor every last minute of Summer we have left!.. Anyways, I particularly loved your fireplace mantel! Really CUTE with the jolly looking pumpkin face setting there! ~tina
ReplyDeleteWell, it looks like Fall is coming to your house.
ReplyDeleteLovely decoration.
Warm regards from South America,
Val
Love your fall look. I think it's so effective to see the pumpkins on the plate like that. It's cooling down here in TX finally, we are getting much needed rain (and thunder) today, probably only last 5 minutes, but it makes looking at fall tablescapes even nicer... feels cozy :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tables and fall decor. It's still warm here in Houston, I haven't gotten any fall things out yet...waiting for our first cool snap.
ReplyDeleteI have my camera set on the largest picture setting...and I also followed Susan's tips. Sometimes I choose not have the bigger pictures, just depends on my subject.
Thanks for sharing.
Your table makes me crave cider! So atmospheric and lovely!
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you..stop by!
love, kelee
