Day 4 and Pinterest

light

Photo challenge day 4…LIGHT

Ok, y’all know that I love Pinterest, right? Some things I just don’t get though. Like the chandelier that is made of a water bottle and a ton of plastic spoons. Is there really anybody out there that will hang that in their house? So pins like that got me thinking about a blog that tries out pins and reviews them. How cool would that be? God bless anyone that has that much time on their hands, but I would certainly be a daily reader! I’m sure there are blogs out there like that, I haven’t really done a lot of research. I did find one though that’s pretty funny. It’s Pintester check it out!

Ikea

I finally made it to Ikea after talking about going for months. Can you believe I didn’t buy a thing? It was fun to check out the rooms that are on display, that was the best part of course. I just didn’t see anything that I couldn’t live without. To me Ikea leans more towards modern decorating, and I am so not a modern girl, ya know?

IMG_4354I did love all the book shelves though.IMG_4355 IMG_4356 This light, not so much.

IMG_4357 IMG_4358  Nice view……IMG_4362 IMG_4363 Pour us a drink Karen. Ha!IMG_4367  I really liked this Audrey Hepburn canvas It was only $49 bucks. It was a good size too.IMG_4372 IMG_4373 IMG_4375 IMG_4377 All of these kitchens would have been so fun to play house in as a girl. Ha!IMG_4378 Beautiful kitchen! Looking at all these show kitchens made me want to go home, set the table, put on some Billie Holiday and cook up something good!  IMG_4381  IMG_4383 IMG_4384There were plenty of beautiful drapes. Are they still called drapes? Panels? Curtains? IMG_4385 IMG_4386Eye Chart light…..kinda weird. It does remind me of a story. When my husband and I were dating the job he was at required him to take an eye test. He didn’t want to spend the money on glasses that he knew he needed so he memorized the eye chart! I helped him study and everything. He passed, by the way. IMG_4387Little pop of color in the cabinet. I’m am much to disorganized to have glass cabinet doors. No way!IMG_4391 IMG_4392 IMG_4395I loved this little pink “room” and light. Although the light did look like a big pair of bloomers! IMG_4397 I liked this guy in the frame, I wanted to take him home.IMG_4398 IMG_4400   Cute little window seat. Should’ve brought my Nook and crawled in there and read. Or watch Netflix, which is what I really do on my Nook. Shhhh……IMG_4410Who would want a curtain wih lips? Not me IMG_4412  Last but not least was this odd display of “tupperware.” I guess they hang it all up so you can see what it looks like, maybe? It’s always fun to go into the city, but I’m such a bumpkin and love to get back home where I pass many a cow pasture to get to my house. MOOOOOO………

Feeling Hot Hot Hot

lunch2

Day 2 photo challenge….Lunch. Although this wasn’t cooked it was still almost too hot to eat it! I do believe we have broken records here in the south. I just looked and it is 102 degrees! I can’t stand it! Going to go brainstorm some dinner ideas that don’t involve using the oven at all.

Photo Challenge Day 2

IMG_4513

So the topic today was “Strangers.” I wish I would’ve gotten a better picture of this little guy. If I would have asked to pose I’m sure he would have, oh well.

He was so full of joy and happiness. He asked if he could take my groceries out and recite a poem. I said sure!

The poem went something like this……

Roses are red, violets are blue, You need carryout,, that’s what I do! Ha!

He said that he was 62 years old and that no one could believe his age. ( He did look like a young 62) He attributed it to always being happy! He said that if he came into work and was unhappy that everyone would know that something was “warry warry wong!” So sweet, we could all take a chapter out of his book!

31 Day Photo Challenge

I’m going to start this tomorrow. I miss doing the 365 project but I don’t want to commit to a photo everyday. This is much more doable right now. Some of these will require a little thought.

Baby Shower

Finally, baby shower time! I’ve been waiting for this day for awhile!

We had such a great turnout and really fun time.

This is the gift table before everyone arrived. Love the “Baby Luke” banner my friend Karen made.

IMG_4232 Did you notice the little monkey? That is a diaper motorcycle cake!

HIMG_4236He was the hit of the party. So easy to make too! We just watched a You Tube video as we were making him. It took a pack of size 1 diapers, 2 bibs, 2 pair of socks, 2 receiving blankets, a bottle for the headlight covered with a wash cloth, and some pretty ribbon. I bet he will be put on a shelf, too cute to deconstruct. IMG_4237 I got the idea for this hospital survival kit on Pinterest. I included some flip flops for the shower, some candy, breath mints, hair ties, face wipes and a magazine. IMG_4238I’m so over bakery cakes so I decided to make monkey cupcakes. Saw these on Pinterest also. Are y’all as addicted to that site as I am? It just makes finding ideas so much easier. The ears are supposed to be mini Nilla wafers, but they still turned out ok. Some were cuter than others. I think that got progressively worse the more I made. I started giving them names, like “drunk monkey”  “bar fight monkey”  I did make 60 after all. Hey maybe that Publix cake would’ve been a better idea. Ha!IMG_4239 IMG_4240 This is the mother to be, my daughter in law Brandi. IMG_4253 IMG_4274 We played a couple of fun games. I passed around a bowl of small candy pieces and told everyone to take what they thought they needed for the game. Most people took giant handfuls. Well, the game was for every piece of candy you took, you had to tell something about yourself or offer up some parenting advice. It made for a few good laughs!IMG_4277Then I passed out play dough to make a baby. IMG_4287 IMG_4288This is the winner! Mary, you did a great job!

Karen made this ribbon wreath for the door. I think Brandi will reuse it for her front door when Luke is born.IMG_4344 IMG_4351

Loved these little treat bags filled with animal crackers. Oh Pinterest, what would I do without you?

I’m so thankful for everyone that came out to make this such a special day. We are patiently waiting your arrival Mr. Luke Waylon…..
