Do It Yourself Day

It seems like we always have a do it yourself project going. Our latest one is a backyard pond. A couple of years ago we built an in law suite for my parents who are retired. Well my dad needs projects to keep him busy, so he and my husband are usually out in the yard doing something. The pond is still a work in progress, it needs more plants, a filter, etc. We love it though, the waterfall is so soothing.

We are going to make a biological filter for it. Hopefully with that and the plants we can clear the green up.

This is a little deck/platform to sit and have lunch to the sound of the waterfall.

Hooked on B&W Photos

I’ve been reading Hooked on Houses for awhile now. Every Friday she hosts a blog party called Hooked on Fridays. Now I can participate! I’m really into B&W pics of my family. I want to eventually do a whole portrait wall in the hallway. Here are some of my favorites.

A Day of Shopping…….NOT

Well the storms did indeed hold off long enough for my mom and I to go to Old Time Pottery. I love that store! We used to have one a lot closer but they closed down. It only took about 45 minutes to get there, so not too bad. I filled my cart early on. See, I have never met a dish I didn’t like. My china cabinet is overflowing already. I get this from my mom. After pushing the cart around with these clanking dishes for an hour, I decided I really didn’t need any of them. I put them all back and purchased a 59 cent gingerbread candle. My husband was happy! I will probably dream about those little white diner saucers that were just begging to have a piece of pie on them though.

Moving on……..

My son informed me that I embarrass him. A mother embarrassing a teenage son, whoever heard of such a thing??? Maybe this will make him feel better!

I’m off to watch a movie and enjoy my 59 cent candle!

A great way to wrap up a rainy Wednesday

 

Love the Fishers!  Now if I can just watch one episode and call it a night without completing the season!

Hopefully heading to Old Time Pottery tomorrow. The nearest one is about 45 miles away and the forecast doesn’t look great! I’m a big chicken when it comes to driving in lightning storms. Fingers crossed…..

The Way You Make Me Feel

Anyone who knows me, knows that I have a “thing” for John Mayer. I really believe it’s getting to the point that I need therapy. Forget about the fact that when I saw him in Atlanta and spotted his tour bus  parked no less than 25 ft from me, I contemplated how I could sneak on board. I was either going to stay there until they reached the next stop on the tour, or I was going to kidnap him. No, today was much more ridiculous. I had the tv in the kitchen on with the Michael Jackson funeral on, just kind of listening in the background as nothing else, news wise, was on. Just when I had enough, I was walking towards the tv grabbing for the remote when John started performing. Of course I didn’t know he was going to be on. I literally tripped over my feet, twisted my ankle and dropped the remote in the sink. Now my ankle is swollen and the remote isn’t working! What is it with that man and my juvenile tendencies? Should I seek help?

Anyway, before all this nonsense Hunter and I made a trip to the grocery store. Then we ran by the Veteran’s memorial wall @ Heritage Park. I haven’t seen it since it was finished. It’s really nice.

Hunter was in charge of my camera today. This is how he saw things.

I love the little smiley face on this jawbreaker. It was the only one facing out, he was smiling just for us. :)
